“I prefer to live in quiet, peaceful places, where a night sky can be viewed without pollution, and where the flora and fauna are allowed to thrive. I will only paint places that I have a connection with; an emotional investment in. I need to spend time in a place, getting to know it – tasting and smelling the salty air; feeling the wind sting my face; observing the light; listening to the sounds around me.
I believe that these multi-sensory experiences create a connection with a place that goes beyond merely looking, giving a glimpse of something beyond its physical properties. It is the fusion of my own experiences with a sense of the spiritual, inner life of a place, that draws me, and creates the need and the desire to paint.”
